Last month, the Jacksonville Sharks of the Indoor Football League signed former Troy quarterback Kaleb Barker and he immediately made an impact on the team.
Barker played at Troy for four seasons, earning All-Sun Belt honors as a senior in 2019 after throwing for 3,628 yards and 30 touchdowns with two more rushing touchdowns.
In 2022, Barker joined the roster of the Northern Arizona Wranglers and led the team to the IFL Championship that season. He threw for 2,273 yards and 49 touchdowns with 812 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground as he led the Wranglers to a league championship.
When Barker joined the Sharks this season, the team was a combined 2-10 but guided Jacksonville to a 3-1 record in the final four contests. He completed 49-of-73 passes for 538 yards and 14 touchdowns with just two interceptions. He also rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns. In a July 6 win over the Iowa Barnstormers, Barker completed 11-of-14 passes for 164 yards and five touchdowns.
