The Troy All-Stars represented Alabama at the Dixie Ozone Rookies (11U) World Series in Mississippi this past weekend.

Troy went 2-2 at the World Series. They opened up the World Series with a 8-5 win over Livingston on July 18. Cole Cleveland led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Elliot Cochran went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Barrett Powell and Cochran pitched two innings each. Cochran struck out two and gave up two hits and two earned runs, while Powell struck out three and gave up no hits or earned runs.

On July 19, Troy fell to Columbia by a score of 8-3. Cleveland went 2-for-2 at the plate with a run, while Parker Precise and Cochran scored one run each. Ethan Ernsberger struck out three batters and gave up no hits or runs in two innings pitched.

Troy rebounded with a 13-2 win over Ruston on July 20 as Precise went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and one run. Cochran also went 2-for-2 with a run and Zane Brookins scored two runs. Jud Ross also scored two runs for Team Alabama. Cochran pitched two and 1/3 innings and struck out a pair of batters along with giving up one hit and no runs. Powell got the win on the mound, striking out one and giving up no hits and two earned runs.

Later on July 20, Troy was eliminated from the World Series after a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to George County. Troy scored three runs in the top of the fifth to bring themselves within one run of tying things up but were unable to draw any closer.

Cleceland went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs. Ross also scored two runs. Cochran pitched three innings and fanned two batters along with giving up three hits and one earned run.

“They played great, the kids never gave up and played with a lot of grit and determination,” head coach Josh Powell said. “Our bats came out a little cool in a couple of games but we came out on fire against Rustin on the last day. These kids did everything we wanted them to do and competed and fought really well.”

The Troy All-Stars earned a State Championship and World Series appearance in 2024 and Powell said he couldn’t be more proud of the way they carried themselves.

“For them to start as early as they did and to end in late July, I’m just so proud of them,” he said. “They persevered and the way they conditioned their bodies at such a young age with their nutrition and hydration was impressive. To last this long in the summer temperatures, I’m extremely proud of them.”

Powell also expressed his thanks for Troy Parks and Recreation.

“We really appreciate Dan Smith and David Dickey and all of Troy Parks and Recreation for everything they do,” Powell emphasized. “They are extremely important and outstanding in everything that they do.”
