Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Last week, Major League Baseball (MLB) helds its annual draft and Troy University star Kole Myers was selected in the ninth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Myers became the third Trojan in the last two years to be drafted by the MLB and the 64th total Troy player to be selected in the draft. A Troy player has been selected in the MLB Draft in 16 of the last 21 drafts with 28 total players selected since 2004. Wesley Rutledge became the first ever Troy Trojan to be selected in the draft in 1967 when he was drafted by St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round. In 2006, Mike Felix became the highest drafted player in Troy history when he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round.

“Two years ago when Kole set foot on our campus, he helped us create an identity as a program,” Troy Coach Skylar Meade said. “He set the tone for us nearly winning 80 games the last two years as one of the most dynamic players to ever play at Troy. He is a super kid from an awesome family, and is going to an elite organization where talents can prevail. We are over the top happy for Kole and can’t wait to see him in professional baseball.”
