Troy University Athletics was built by local athletes for decades while college recruiting is a national game in modern times, Troy’s rosters currently house a number of local athletes.

Football, baseball and basketball are considering the “big three” of college athletics and while Troy University’s rosters in each of these sports features top talent from across the country – and even internationally – they also feature a slew of athletes from around the Wiregrass, more so than in recent years.

The Troy Football team features former Pike Lib stars KC Bradford and Scott Taylor Renfroe, who grew up in Troy, along with former Charles Henderson All-State athlete Jywon Boyd. The football team also features talent from Brantley, Enterprise, Millbrook, Montgomery, Ariton, Andalusia and Dothan.

Troy Basketball features Troy native Austin Cross – who was an All-State athlete at both Charles Henderson and Pike Lib – during his high school career. The basketball team also features a number of players from Dothan, Slocomb and Geneva.

This week Troy Baseball added Troy native – and one of the most decorated baseball players in Pike Lib history – Drew Nelson as a future transfer. His fellow Pike Lib teammate Cason Eubanks also signed with Troy earlier this summer. The pair joins other Wiregrass athletes from Enterprise, Millbrook, Dothan and Montgomery on the baseball roster. Future Trojan Cody Markham also plays for Troy Post 70 during summer baseball.
