Troy Athletics to host concert series during home football games

On Friday, Troy University Athletics announced its Horn Beverage Tailgate Concert Series lineup, which will bring live concerts to Troy before each of the Trojans’ home football games.
Each band will hit the stage at Tailgate Terrace three hours prior to kickoff before each home and will play a two-hour set. Things will kickoff at 3 p.m.. on Aug. 31 before Troy’s season opener against Nevada as Wiregrass natives The Springs perform. The Springs are made up of husband-wife duo Stewart Halcomb and Holly Helms. Stewart was born and raised in Enterprise. The duo, which has opened for acts like Florida Georgia Line and Eric Church, have released two albums.
On Sept. 21, before Troy plays Florida A&M, Johnny Barron and the Waterfall Band will hit the stage from 3 until 5 p.m. The band calls Pike County home and plays throughout the area.
Troy University’s POPulus will perform prior to Troy’s Sept. 28 Sun Belt Conference matchup with ULM, which doesn’t have a start time yet. POPulus is a music ensemble comprised of Troy University students in the Music Industry Program. POPulus plays cover songs from well-known artists in various genres also with original songs written by Troy students.
On Oct. 13, band 12Eleven will perform beginning at 3 p.m. The band is made up of four Troy University students that formed in 2019. The band plays a combination of rock, blues, country, soul and rap and performs throughout the Southeast.
Prior to Troy’s Nov. 2 game against Coastal Carolina POPulus will again perform. Finally, Troy’s home finale against Southern Miss will see The Park Band perform. The cover band from Troy plays an eclectic mix of genres ranging from hip hop to Motown and classic rock. The Park Band performs at colleges throughout the Southeast.
