Already, the Second Saturday in August is just a few days away.
And, the Johnson Center for the Arts has an outstanding Alabama artist, Dorothy Richardson Foster, to lead the August 10, Second Saturday art event from 10 a.m. until noon at Art By the Tracks.
Foster graduated from Troy University with a degree in studio art including photograph, drawing design, pen and ink, watercolor, oils, acrylic and freeform pottery.
Andrea Pack, Johnson Center for the Arts director, said Foster has a passion for teaching painting to “regular” folks.
“She used to teach paint parties and will be able to paint a step-by-step sunflower painting,” Pack said. “Second Saturday classes are a great way to meet people and to socialize with friends while flexing your creative muscles.”
The class is free, thanks to a grant from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama and the Corley Chapman Foundation. A slight registration fee of $10 will be fully refunded to those who participate. Registration is required. Please call 334-670-2287 to register. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
