Troy lands pair of football commitments

Over the weekend, the Troy Trojans earned two commitments for the Class of 2025.
Kings Mills, Ohio, offensive lineman Kage Payne committed to Troy on Friday. Payne is rated as a three-star interior offensive lineman by 247Sports. He earned All-Conference, All-City, All-District and All-State honors as a junior at Kings High School last season.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 280-pound Payne committed to Troy over offers rom schools like Syracuse, Indiana, Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, James Madison, Jacksonville State, Memphis and more.
On Sunday, Troy also landed a commitment from junior college (JUCO) linebacker Donnie Smith. The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound edge is heading into his sophomore season at East Central Community College in Mississippi. Last season, he tallied 25 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, four sacks and two forced fumbles at ECCC.
Before starting his college career at ECCC, Smith was a star player at St. Joseph’s School in Greenville, Miss. As a senior, Smith tallied 46 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Smith also held offers from schools like Prairie View A&M.
