Troy Post 70 knocks off Texas to advance to World Series Semifinals

Troy Post 70 remained alive in the American Legion 19U World Series on Sunday with an 8-0 win over League City Post 554 (Texas) to advance to the semifinals.
This game was a battle between the 2022 World Series Champs (Troy) and the 2023 World Series Champs (League City).
Troy University signee Cody Markham led Post 70 at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Cody Walsh went 2-for-3 with two runs. Troy native Payne Jefcoat went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs. Matt Snell, Ariton’s Caden Collier and Evan Taylor scored one run each.
Walsh pitched all seven innings and mowed down six batters, while giving up three hits and earning the shutout on the mound. Jefcoat also tallied seven putouts and one assist on defense.
That win put Troy, League City and Fargo (North Dakota) in a three-way tie in the Stars Division. Fargo lost to League City but beat Troy. Meanwhile, Troy beat League City but lost to Fargo. The next tie breaker comes to total runs allowed. Troy has given up just six runs during the tournament, while League City has given up 13 and Fargo has given up 14. That means that Troy and League City will advance to the semifinals.
On Monday, Troy will play Wilmington (DE), the Stripes Division runner-up, in the semifinals at 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPNU.
