On Friday, the Troy University softball program announced the signing of four new transfer players for the 2025 season.
The transfers include Florida Southwestern State pitcher Esmee Ames, College of Central Florida outfielder Megan Loftis, Wallace State outfielder McKinnon Howard and Ole Miss outfielder Annie Orman.
“We are super excited about our transfer additions that we have added this summer,” Troy Coach Eric Newell said. “Each player has a unique skill set they are bringing to the table, and I can’t wait to see them hit the field as Trojans.”
Ames is a native of Harleem, Netherlands, who played high school softball at Herbert Vissers College. She also helped the Netherlands earn two third place finishes in the European Championships and a sixth place finish in the World Championships in Peru.
At Florida Southwestern State, Ames helped her school to three straight NJCAA National Championships. She started her college career at Central Florida, and earned NJCAA Division I All-American honors and was named Mid-Florida Player of the Year this past season as she led the entire nation with 104 total hits. Her .493 batting average ranked 14th nationally and third in stolen bases.
Howard is a Phenix City native that earned Class 7A Hitter of the Year and Super All-Sate honors at Central-Phenix City in 2022. She was also named to the MaxPreps All-American team. She boasted a career .524 batting average in high school and as a senior, she held a .599 batting average with two doubles, three triples, two home runs, 79 runs and 25 RBIs. Orman is Troy’s only Division I transfer in this class, having started her college career at Ole Miss. The Myrtle, Miss., native played in high school at West Union High School, earning All-Division honors four times and Northeast Daily Journal Player of the Year in 2019. She played on her varsity team from her seventh grade year on.
