Before there is football in Pike County, there is RODEO!

The Pike County Cattleman’s 32nd Annual Professional Cowboys Association Rodeo is set for Friday and Saturday nights, August 23 and 24 at Cattleman Park.

An expected 100-plus professional cowboys and cowgirls from throughout Alabama and several other states will compete in eight rodeo events including calf roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, barrel racing and, of course, the most highly anticipated event … bull riding.

Cattleman Johnny Garrett said the Pike County Cattlemen’s 2024 rodeo will open the gates at 6 p.m. on Friday and at 5 p.m. Saturday for the Kids’ Western Rodeo. The PCA rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. both nights.

The Kids’ Western Rodeo on Saturday is highly anticipated by little wranglers who want to ride, rope, shoot and even milk a cow.

The most popular kids’ event is mutton bustin’ and the line is long for a chance to ride.

Admission to the 2024 Pike County Cattlemen’s Rodeo is $12 in advance and $15 at the gate. Ages five and under are admitted free with a paying adult.

Advance tickets are available at Troy Bank & Trust Main Branch, Don Walker’s Western Wear, Banks Buy-Right and Piggly Wiggly Brundidge.
