The buzz around town is that several former champions of the Pike County Cattlemen’s Mechanical Bull Riding Competition will be at the Half Shell at 10:30 a.m. Friday to defend their lofty titles.

The name Brenda Peacock keeps popping up. However, at last year’s Mechanical Bull Riding Champion, Peacock said she would not vie for a second title.  So, perhaps she will ride this one out in the cheering section.

Jeffrey “Hoss Daddy” Bennett is expected to be a favorite for the championship and James Ketchum could be a repeat champion. Probate Judge Michal Bunn was said to a “very interested spectator” at last year’s event. So, , he might be a silent contender.
