Troy catcher Jimmy Janicki ranked as Top 100 2024 prospect

This week, Prep Baseball Report ranked incoming Troy freshman Jimmy Janicki as one of the Top 100 newcomers in college baseball heading into the 2025 season.
Janicki was ranked as the top incoming freshman in the Sun Belt Conference and No. 92 nationally. The 6-foot-3-inch catcher earned first-team All-State honors as a junior and senior at Downers Grove-North High School in Illinois. He earned a .489 batting average as a junior with 10 runs, 51 RBIs, 14 doubles, two triples and six home runs. He also held a .995 fielding percentage with 183 put outs and one assist.
As a senior, he earned .421 batting average with 27 runs, 42 RBIs, nine doubles, three triples and seven homers. He also held a .980 fielding percentage with 195 putouts and six assists.
Janicki and All-Sun Belt catcher Brooks Bryan will help make up one of the deepest catcher groups in the Sun Belt heading into 2025.
