Troy BOE approves new flooring

The Troy City Schools Board of Education approved a request to replace carpet at Troy Elementary and Charles Henderson High School.
Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Thomas said any remaining carpet would be replaced by LVP – Luxury Vinyl Planking. Bids were opened on Thursday morning the board met that afternoon to approve the bid. The low bidder was Boutwell Floor Covering in the amount of $62,610. Thomas said the carpet replacement would be covered by Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund – a federal COVID relief fund that expires on Sept. 30.
The board also approved three personnel actions:
- Maternity leave was approved for Jasmine Sistrunk effective Sept. 1 through Dec. 20.
- Amanda Johnson was hired as a new teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Oct. 1.
- A transfer for Joy Finch from teacher to Alabama Reading Initiative interventionist was approved, effective Oct. 21.
