October is traditionally County Fair time all across the country and Pike County is no exception.
The Troy Shrine Club hosts the Pike County Fair at the Pike County Fairgrounds each October. The Shriners have set the date for the 2024 Pike County Fair at October 8 through 12, with Tuesday and Thursday as armband nights.
Kathy Sneed, said the 2024 Pike County will feature a fun and exciting Midway with several new rides for the kids.
“We will also have a barn filled with farm animals with everything from chickens to cows,” Sneed said. “And the Shriners will have its traditional county fair foods, including cotton candy and candied apples, inside the exhibition hall and, downstairs, the Lily White Church of the Living God will have a variety of seasonal foods for sale.
The entertainment line-up feature singing by individuals and groups and also line dancing.
If you can make it, shake bake or take it, then you’ll will not want to miss the opportunity to showcase your talents at the Troy Shrine Club’s Pike County Fair on October 8-12 at Cattleman Park,
Not only will entries, students through adults, be judged in a large number of categories but ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded in everything from apple sauce to xylophones.
However, Neil Sneed, Troy Shrine Club president, said to be eligible for the ribbons and cash prizes, it is necessary for entries to be delivered to the Pike County Fair Grounds on Friday, October 4, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 6, from 1 until 5 p.m.
All entries must be products of Pike and surrounding counties and have been raised, grown or made by the exhibitor since the last fair.
Sneed encourages all those who enjoy the atmosphere and fun of a county fair to mark October 8-12 on their calendars and plan be at Troy Shrine Club’s 2024 Pike County Fairgrounds for family fun.
