The CMS Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home in Enterprise was the topic of interest at the Wednesday meeting of the Brundidge Rotary Club.
Samantha Wise, director of the Enterprise State Veterans Home, was the guest speaker at the Brundidge Rotary Club’s Wednesday meeting at the invitation of Rotarian Dixie Shehane.
The Rotarians were eager to learn more about the state veterans home in Enterprise and how the club could be of assistance.
Wise said the Enterprise State Veterans Home will be a long-term state-of-the-art veterans’ health care facility. The veterans’ home features private rooms with baths, a community living area, kitchen area for meals and snacks and a private porch.
Wise said the design of The Command Sergeant Major Bennie Adkins State Veterans Home was designed to honor the character and image of Enterprise. The facility has a farmhouse appearance with board and batten siding. Large covered porches wrap around the home providing both sun or shade for the veterans and “of course” a centrally located fireplace.
The Enterprise State Veterans Home features a “close to home” atmosphere with a Main Street with a barber shop and beauty shop and a chapel.
Wise said the veterans home was designed to be a home away from” and a place where veterans’ could spend time with family members and also gather for special occasions.
Needs for the CMS Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home include support/therapy animals, senior resource speakers, group activity facilitators, musicians, bands and ministers and choirs.
