Troy University Athletics Director Brent Jones announced on Tuesday that the athletics department has received a $1 million philanthropic commitment to support the construction of the previously announced indoor practice facility.
The gift commitment is one of the largest ever received by Troy Athletics, according to Jones.
“The donor is a longtime supporter of Troy University as well as the athletics department,” Troy Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. said. “His love for the university runs deep as a proud alum, and this lead gift for the indoor practice facility is one more way in which he has demonstrated that love. We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support.”
The donor – who was not named – also issued a statement.
“My family and I are thrilled to be able to make this donation to the university that we love for the completion of the indoor practice facility,” the donor said.
Hawkins announced before the Birmingham Bowl last season that the university was committing to constructing an indoor practice facility.
“I am very thankful and appreciative of this transformative donation that will act as the lead gift for the indoor practice facility,” Jones said. “This facility project will benefit and impact several of our athletic programs and student-athletes.”
The indoor practice facility will be built next to Trojan Arena, behind the existing outdoor football practice field.
