What would the fall season be without a county fair?
And, thanks to the Troy Shrine Club, the Pike County Fair has been a tradition from grandpa’s childhood days until and including October 2024.
The 2024 Pike County Fair open at 6 p.m. Tuesday October 8 and runs nightly through Saturday.
However, Neal Sneed, Troy Shrine Club president, said first things first.
As a reminder for those who have booths and those who plan to enter exhibits and items for judging in a variety of categories from pickles to paintings to pickles that this weekend is the one and only time to do so.
Sneed said, to be eligible for the ribbons and cash prizes, it is necessary for entries to be delivered to the Pike County Fair Grounds on Friday, October 4, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 6, from 1 until 5 p.m.
All entries must be products of Pike and surrounding counties and have been raised, grown or made by the exhibitor since the last fair.
Sneed said the exhibits have long been a part county fairs.
“So, we invite those who have artwork, needlework woodwork, crafts, handmade items, homegrown products, jams and jellies to enter the 2024 Pike County Fair with opportunities to win ribbons and cash prizes.
