The Troy Police Department issued a warning it has responded to several medical calls that appear to be fentanyl related.

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron said people should not take any medication that was not prescribed by a doctor and dispensed from a pharmacy. Barron said the TPD is seeing an increase in counterfeit oxycodone 30mg pills marked M30, that contain fentanyl. Barron said these counterfeit pills can also mimic hydrocodone, Xanax, Adderall and many other medications.

Barron said fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl, equal to 10 to 15 grains of table salt, is considered a lethal dose, Barron said.
