Johnson Center announces busy days ahead

The month of October is one of the busiest months of the year for the Johnson Center for the arts in Pike County.

Andrea Pack, JCA director, said, The Student Art the Size of a Dollar Bill exhibit, opens on October 11. Teachers around the county have submitted student art from area schools and programs.

“The student ‘Art the Size of a Dollar Bill’ exhibit is sponsored by Troy Bank and Trust and is one of the most popular exhibits at the JCA,” Pack said.

On October 12, “Altered Book” with Rebekah Alexander will be the Second Saturday Studio from 10 a.m. until noon. Those who attend will have the opportunity to alter a book into a visual journal. All ages are welcome. The Second Saturday event is free.

Chintia Kirana will presents an artist talk on October 24. The time is to be announced.

The Johnson Center for the Arts will close out is exciting month of events on October 25 with a Membership Mask Ball at The Studio.”

“Formal attire and costumes are welcome,” Pack said. “We will be making masks; snacks and food items will be available for free and for purchase. A silent auction will feature cakes and food items, as well as seasonal paintings.”

Pack said there will also be live music by a variety of performers. The Mask Ball will close with a dance.

The JCA  extends an invitation for everyone to come out and discover why and how to support the Johnson Center in is mission. This event is free to attend and is open to the public.”
