Pike Lib captures Area Crown in championship thriller over Luverne

For the third consecutive season, the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots are the Class 2A, Area 3 Champions after beating the Luverne Lady Tigers in the championship game by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

The championship match came down to the wire between the two schools. After Pike took the first set 25-15, Luverne answered by tying things up with a 25-22 win in the second. Pike dominated the third set with a 25-10 win but Luverne tied things up once again with a 25-21 win in the fourth set to force a fifth and final set. In the fifth, Pike once again became the Queens of Area 3 with a 15-11 win.

Anna Cate Friday led the Lady Pats with 10 kills, 10 blocks, three aces and six digs, while Amy Ramage tallied two kills, 29 assists and 16 digs. Camryn Brown earned seven kills, 10 digs and four aces. Emma Baker totaled three kills, six assists and six digs, while Alissa Barron earned two aces, five kills and 11 digs. Haylie Brown total two aces, one kill, one block and 19 digs.
