Lawrence Paint and Hardware in Troy saw a need and met it with the opening of its very own hydraulic shop.

Mike Kilcrease runs the hydraulic shop at Lawrence Hardware and he’s been involved with building and working on hydraulic hoses since the 1980s. The employees at Lawrence Hardware emphasize that customer service is their top priority and adding a hydraulic shop is part of the effort to meet customer needs.

“It makes us more complete,” Kilcrease said of adding the hydraulic shop. “Everything with automotive and hardware compliments each other; it fits like a glove. I think it was a really good fit for us.”

Kilcrease said that he believes Lawrence Hardware has the most complete hydraulic shop in the area.

“We probably have the most complete shop in this part of the country,” he emphasized. “We do all kinds of hydraulic hoses from 1-wire hoses to 6-wire. We also can do the DOT (air brake hoses) for your tractor-trailer rigs that consists of nylon tubing, rubber hose, nylon braided and stainless. We can do pressure washer hose. Anything up through (6-wire hose) we can do. We have a complete shop here.”

Kilcrease said that he custom makes the hose in the shop as the customer waits, to fit their needs.

“Everything is custom made back there, because you never know what’s going to come in,” he said. “One end may be a pipe thread and the other end may be a flange fitting. So, you never know until it gets here. We can handle whatever is brought to us.”

The service and price at Lawrence Hardware is what Kilcrease says makes their shop stand out more than anything.

“There’s no one that can compete with us price wise,” he said. “We can save people money on hoses and we offer an after-hours service if people get into a bind. They just need to contact the store here and we can give them information on that. If you’re down and in a bind, we want to help you get out of it.”
