The annual Peanut Butter Festival in Brundidge is, once again set for the last Saturday in October. The festival is an annual event of the Brundidge  Historical Society.

The tradition of paying tribute the little nut that sustained the town of Brundidge during the Great Depression started more than 30 years ago. The BHS  continues to invite people of all ages to “come back to the way it used to be.”

“Back in those days farming was the ‘industry’ in Pike County; people worked long and hard planting and harvesting their crops—peanuts, cotton and corn,” said Lawrence Bowden, a longtime member of the BHS. “On Saturdays, they put down their plows and went to town to buy what they needed and enjoy the fellowship of friends and neighbors.
