The 34th Annual Peanut Butter Festival in Brundidge on Saturday will get the festival off to an early start at 6 o’clock Wednesday in an old fashioned way… with a Brush Arbor Singing at the We Piddle Around Theater.
Lawrence Bowden, BHS vice president, said there is no better way to begin a community event than with an old-time singing.
“Most of us older folks will remember many of the songs because we learned them ‘by heart’ as children,” Bowden said. “However, all of the old church songs will be familiar but we’ll have song books available to keep us on key.”
Larry and Lenora Senn will be the song leaders and Bowden said and everyone will be looking forward to their leadership and their dedication to the old, familiar church music and songs.”
The BHS’ Peanut Butter Festival will open at 8 a.m. Saturday on the lawn of the historic Bass House on South Main Street. The festival will feature music, dancing, old-time games, contests, exhibits, demonstrations, arts and crafts and all the favorite festival foods, including roasted corn and smoked turkey legs.
The Peanut Butter Festival is free to all. And, the BHS welcomes new members. Those who are interested in being a part of hosting year-around folk events check in at the Peanut Butter Place.
