On Friday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) announced that Charles Henderson High School would have to forfeit five football games due to violation of the AHSAA Transfer Rule. On Saturday, Troy City Schools Superintendent Cynthia Thomas issued a statement in regards to this decision.
“We are deeply disappointed with the outcome of this investigation and regret the impact it will have on our team, school, and community,” stated Thomas. “Charles Henderson High School holds itself to the highest standards of integrity and compliance, and we remain committed to adhering to the policies set forth by AHSAA.”
Charles Henderson has also been placed on probation for a year and fined by the AHSAA over the rules violations.
“Charles Henderson High School recognizes the efforts of all student-athletes, coaches, and supporters and will continue to work diligently to uphold the values of fair play and sportsmanship,” The TCS statement continued. “The school will also review its protocols and procedures to ensure continued compliance with eligibility requirements in the future. We thank our community and fans for their understanding and support during this time.”
