The Johnson Center for the Arts in Troy is making efforts to increase awareness of the art center’s mission and its offerings to the community.
The JCA is dependent upon annual memberships to succeed.
“Last year we were able to increase programming enormously by working directly with schools and organizations in the community, taking the arts to a variety of people through an initiative called Amp Up Arts, said Andrea Pack, JCA executive director. “Some classes are public, many more are open only to participants already in an organization, for example. a school class or healthcare facility. We have served hundreds of school children in Troy, Banks, Goshen, Luverne and Brantley through this initiative.”
Classes are found in schools, after-school programming, healthcare facilities, and onsite field trips.
“We would like to keep it up, Pack said. “And, we want to understand the community’s thoughts and opinions about the Johnson Center and its offerings. So, we encourage our community members to share our survey with people who have never heard of us before but live in Pike County or the surrounding areas. Their input will be invaluable in deciding how to move forward.”
