Troy falls to No. 18 Arkansas on the road

A feisty Troy Trojans (2-1) team couldn’t overcome a slew of turnovers as they fell to the No. 18-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1) by a score of 65-49 on the road Wednesday night.
Despite the double-digit loss, Troy led for almost the entirety of the first half and held a 27-26 lead at halftime. The Trojans shot 40.7 percent from the field in the first half and held Arkansas to just 29.4 percent shooting. The Trojans also won the rebound battle 25-15 in the first half but Troy also turned the ball over eight times.
The second half, though, was all Arkansas. Arkansas outscored Troy 39-22 in the second half and shot 63.6 percent from the field compared to just 35.7 shooting from the Trojans. Troy also turned the ball over 12 more times and were outrebounded 15-12.
For the game, Troy turned the ball over a staggering 24 times and Arkansas scored 24 points off those turnovers. While Troy won the rebound battle 37-30, Arkansas shot 42.9 percent from the field compared to Troy’s 38.2 percent shooting. Arkansas knocked down just 2-of-11 three-pointers in the first half but drilled 8-of-12 in the second half. Troy didn’t knock down a single three-pointer in the second half.
Jackson Fields led Troy with 13 points and six rebounds, while Myles Rigsby added 12 points and four rebounds. Tatyon Conerway dished six assists and Thomas Dowd grabbed seven rebounds. Adou Thiero and Zvonimir Ivisic scored 19 points each for Arkansas. Ivisic also blocked five shots and earned three steals.
Troy is back on the road Nov. 17 to face Oregon.
