Following the first week of basketball season, Troy Trojan Jackson Fields was named the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Fields is Troy’s first male player to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week since 2019. In two games to open the season, he averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds, also earning his first career double-double in the process.
“Jackson had a great start to the season last week, and I am very happy that he is receiving this honor,” Troy coach Scott Cross said. “He has been one of our most consistent contributors since he’s been here, and I am thrilled to watch him continue to elevate his game every day.”
Fields scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in Troy’s season opening win over Toledo last week before scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a win over New Orleans this past weekend.
Fields and the Trojans will take on No. 18 Arkansas on the road Wednesday night in a game that will air on the SEC Network+ at 7 p.m.
