CHHS graduate killed in Tuskegee shooting

Charles Henderson High School graduate La’Tavion Johnson was killed in a shooting at Tuskegee University last weekend.
According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the shooting occurred during Tuskegee’s 100th Homecoming Weekend when a shooting happened at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 at West Commons Apartments in Tuskegee. A total of 16 people were injured in the shooting and 12 were shot.
Johnson, a Troy native and Charles Henderson graduate, was killed in the shooting. According to a statement to AL.com, a victim from the shooting confirmed that Johnson was shot when he pushed another person out of the way, saving that person’s life.
Johnson was expected to begin a job with the Alabama Department of Transportation in Troy this month.
Earlier this week, 25-year-old Jaquez Myrick, of Montgomery, was arrested for being in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device. Officers stated that Myrick was found leaving the scene of the shooting and charged federal with possession of a machine gun. No one has been arrested and charged with Johnson’s murder thus far.
