CHHS wrestling opens 2024 season

The Charles Henderson High School wrestling team opened the wrestling season on Nov. 14 at a quad-match in Enterprise.
Charles Henderson defeated Houston Academy 42-6. For Charles Henderson, Henry Grenon defeated Adam Gay via pinfall in the 132-pound division, David Dawson beat Doster Glover via pinfall at 138 pounds and Watlee Bavaro beat Matthew Miller via pinfall at 144 pounds. There were double forfeits at 120 pounds, 126 pounds, 150 pounds, 157 pounds, 165 pounds and 175 pounds.
Charles Henderson’s Jackson Jones (215 pounds), Tyler Johnson (113 pounds) and Tyquarius Cunningham (285 pounds) won via forfeit, while Charles Henderson’s Hayes West beat Hugh Davis via pinfall at 106 pounds. Houston Academy’s Owen Bright won at 190 pounds via forfeit. Charles Henderson went 4-0 on the mat.
In extra matches, Charles Henderson’s Henry Grenon beat Jake Blevins via pinfall and Hayes West beat Travis Payne via pinfall.
Charles Henderson also fell 72-12 to Enterprise and 63-12 to Dothan. Against Enterprise, Charles Henderson’s Jackson Jones beat Jackson Clark at 190 pounds via pinfall and Brendon Mosley beat Ethan McPeake via pinfall at 215 pounds. Against Dothan, Hayes West beat Legend Gardner via pinfall at 106 pounds and Mosley beat Ja’Davious Lemene via pinfall at 215 pounds.
