The ladies of Brundidge Methodist Church will host their annual Christmas Luncheon for Local Missions on Saturday, December 8 from 1 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.

“Ladies at our Methodist church in Brundidge have always had hearts for mission work,” Jennifer Garrett said.  “Years ago, that desire to help others resulted in bake sales and yard sales of various handmade items during the Christmas season.

In the Christmas season of 1982, the ladies decided to prepare a Christmas Buffet to serve in the church Fellowship Hall.  The food would be prepared by the ladies and served to the church and the community on a Saturday near Christmas.”

Garrett said prayers for success and for understanding how to use the money for various missions was important.

“Lots of fun and work went into the preparation and the day of serving the food,” Garrett said. “During the year after the luncheon, the money was delegated to various areas of missions locally and to missionaries sharing Jesus in lands afar.”

The tradition continues this holiday season.

Garrett to look for a few new ideas. The date of this year’s luncheon is Sunday, December, 8. Everyone is invited to enjoy a Christmas luncheon “like grandma used to make” and the Christian fellowship of friends and neighbors.”
