On Nov. 20, Troy native Andrew Reeves officially took over Troy’s UPS Store as its new owner.

Gulf Shores native Deanne Baggett owned and operated the store for more than 20 years, building it up through its popular print shop. Reeves, a graduate of Charles Henderson High School, is a military veteran who served in Iraq before beginning a career with Bonnie Plants Farms in Union Springs, one of the largest vegetable wholesalers in the country. He’s worked with Bonnie Plants for nearly two decades as a sales representative and station manager in various states.

“A mutual friend of the (Baggett) family told me that Deanne was trying to sell (The UPS Store) and retire and they thought I would do well with this,” Reeves said of his decision to buy the store. “I talked with them and thought I would give it a shot. I’ve always done manual labor type jobs, or sales, but I enjoy people and customer service. I felt like this was a good opportunity. Deanne really built this place up.”

Reeves said that he hoped that taking over The UPS Store would give him more time to spend with his family in the future, as well. Reeves got an opportunity to observe the way things are done at The UPS Store in Troy, prior to taking over, and was impressed with the operation.

“Deanne was great, she let me come in a couple of weeks before (taking over) and meet everyone and kind of get my feet wet,” he said. “She’s really built this thing up and it’s very impressive what this store does with the print side of things. They do a good job and the staff is great here. Everyone on the staff stayed on.”

With the success The UPS Store has seen in recent years, especially on the print side, Reeves said he wants to help build on to that but doesn’t envision coming in and trying to make a lot of changes.

“They do a really good job here and I think I need to let them do their thing and as we go on learn more and help as much as I can,” said Reeves. “I’d like to keep everything going as much as I can. I want to take what (Baggett) built and hold on to that and hopefully add on to it as I learn the business more. There is a great staff here that do a great job and doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to come in trying to make a lot of changes.”

The UPS Store is located at 1305A S. Brundidge Street in Troy. The phone number for the store is (334) 566-9470 and the E-Mail is store2803@theupsstore.com.
