Area Schools compete in hoops action

The Pike County, Pike Liberal Arts, Artion, Zion Chapel and Charles Henderson High School basketball teams were all in action this weekend.
The Charles Henderson Trojans lost 46-37 to Class 7A’s Auburn. Kam Christian led CHHS with 17 points in the loss. The CHHS junior varsity squad picked up a 41-35 win over Auburn, however. The Lady Trojans lost 60-36 to Auburn. Harmony Hubbard led CHHS with 10 points, while Kamari Strozier scored nine points.
The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots earned a close 40-35 win over the Ariton Purple Cats on Friday. Pike Lib was led by Jackson Mitchell with 19 points, while Chase Deboer and Sawyer Keck scored eight points. Connor Davidson led Ariton with 11 poins and Easton Kilpatrick scored eight.
The Lady Patriots lost 41-22 to Ariton. Nya Allen led the Lady Cats with 18 points, while Shelly Stephens led Pike with six points and Mary Holland Stephens added four points.
The Pike County Bulldogs also lost 71-31 to Carroll. Khalil Foster led PCHS with nine points. The Lady Bulldogs also lost 49-23 to Carroll. Tamieja Taylor led Pike County with 11 points, while JoJo Thomas scored five points.
The Zion Chapel Rebels lost 62-42 to GW Long. Joseph LeGear scored 10 points in the loss.
