Troy Softball announces 2025 schedule

This past weekend, the Troy Trojans softball team announced its complete 2025 softball schedule, which includes matchups against seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2024.

Troy will open the season on Feb. 6 and will host 11 straight home games to start the season, including the Trojan Classic and Cardinal Clash Tournaments.

“We are very excited about the 2025 schedule,” Troy Coach Eric Newell said. “The schedule is stacked with P4 and top 100 RPI opponents. So, we will be tested early and often this spring.”

Troy is coming off a 2024 season that saw the Trojans finish fifth in the Sun Belt with a record of 34-22 in Newell’s second year at the helm. Since he took over the program, the Trojans have gone 67-41-1.

Troy returns All-Sun Belt athlete Taylor McKinney this season, who boasted a .343 batting average with six home runs, 28 RBIs, seven doubles, two ripples and 37 runs. On defense, she held a .949 fielding percentage with 105 putouts, 61 assists and three double plays.

Troy will open the season at home on Feb. 6, 2025, with the Trojan Invitational that will see Troy play Tennessee State on Feb. 6 before playing both Central Michigan and Tennessee State on Feb. 7. The Trojans then battle North Texas on Feb. 8 before closing out the tournament against Samford on Feb. 9.

Troy follows that up with the Cardinal Clash at home Feb. 13-16 with matchups against SEMO on Feb. 13, Eastern Illinois on Feb. 15 and then a double-header against Eastern Illinois and Alabama State on Feb. 16. Troy closes out the home stand against the ACC’s Georgia Tech on Feb. 19.

The Trojans then head to the campus of the University of South Florida for more tournament action as Troy plays both Michigan and Wisconsin on Feb. 22 before closing out the tournament against Kent State and host South Florida on Feb. 23.

Tournament action come to a close on the campus of the University of Florida as Troy plays Western Michigan and Samford on Feb. 28, Florida A&M and Florida on March 1 and Western Michigan on March 2.

Troy then closes out 10 straight road games on March 5 against the SEC’s Auburn before hosting Massachusetts for a series March 7-9. Troy then hosts Alabama A&M on March 12 before starting conference play with a series at home against Coastal Carolina March 14-16.

Troy travels to Southern Miss for another conference series March 21-23 before hosting Auburn in a rematch on March 26. The Trojans play ULM in a conference series March 28-30 and then travels to West Georgia on April 2.

The Trojans host Louisiana for another conference series April 4-6 and then travel to Alabama State on April 9. After Troy hosts a conference series against Georgia Southern April 11-13, the Trojans hit the road for another long stretch.

The Trojans travel to UAB on April 15 and then face Texas State in a conference road series April 17-19 and Georgia State April 25-27. Troy closes out the regular season May 1-3 with a home series against rival South Alabama.

Troy will then play host to the Sun Belt Softball Tournament May 7-10.
