City of Troy Utility crew recognized for service during Hurricane Milton

At the Troy City Council’s meeting on Dec. 10, Troy Mayor Jason Reeves and the City Council recognized a City of Troy utility crew for its service in Leesburg, Fla., during Hurricane Milton.

The City of Leesburg (Fla.) passed a resolution of appreciation for the crew’s service in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton and also sent a letter thanking the city.

“We are extremely grateful for both the City of Troy and the team of line technicians that traveled to Leesburg to help with our restoration efforts,” Leesburg City Manager Al Minner said in the letter. “Mutual aid is a cornerstone of public power and the resources you provide made a significant difference in our community’s recovery. We extend our sincere thanks to your employees and to the City of Troy for the assistance provided during this challenging time.”

Reeves said that being able to send utility crews to neighboring communities in need in a benefit for them and for Troy.

“We often have situations of weather where our neighbors are in harms way,” Reeves continued. “One that is so great is that FEMA allows us to go and help others, because it not only helps our neighbors but it also gives our people incredible training and real life experiences dealing with very, very difficult situations.”

The crew that traveled to Leesburg, and was recognized includes City of Troy linemen Hue Davis, Tyler Eldridge, Dalton Strickland, Easton Waters, Seth Arrington, Daniel DuBose, Jonathan Helms and Blake Garrett.
