According to a release from Troy Fire Chief Michael Stephens, the Troy Fire Department responded to a fire at a residence on West Orange Street in the early morning hours on Dec. 11.

At approximately 3:21 a.m., Troy FD responded to an emergency call at a single-story residence located in the 100 block of West Orange Street in Troy. Troy FD received a report of thick smoke coming from the home and upon arrival firefighters observed heavy smoke and fire, including flames showing through the roof of the structure.

According to Stephens, fire crews were forced to implement a “defensive initial fire attack” from the outside of the structure due to extreme fire and smoke conditions, so that the fire could be brought under control.

According to the release, the fire was deemed under control at 4:52 a.m. and the home was determined to be unoccupied at the time the fire was reported. No firefighter or civilian injuries were involved in the incident.

According to Stephens, the fire is under investigation from the Troy Fire Marshal’s Office.
