Legendary Charles Henderson High School basketball coach will be honored this Saturday, Dec. 14, at the official Floor Dedication Ceremony for Carl Hollis Court at Betty Wagner Gymnasium on the campus of CHHS.

The basketball court at Betty Wagner Gym was officially named Carl Hollis Court this past summer in honor of Hollis, who was a star basketball player at Troy University before serving as an assistant basketball coach and head coach at CHHS for a number of years.

Hollis ended his Troy career as the school’s all-time leading scorer and was inducted into the Troy Athletics Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. After spending a decade as an assistant coach at CHHS, he went on serve as head coach for 21 years, leading the school to 11 area championships, four Final Four appearances and eight Elite 8 appearances. Current CHHS head coach Tim Fayson played for Hollis.

The dedication ceremony will be held between the CHHS girls and boys varsity games. The CHHS JV game starts at 2 p.m. with the girls game beginning immediately following.
