Troy Baseball earns commitment from Chipola College’s Zaid Diaz

This weekend, the Troy University Baseball squad earned a commitment from Chipola College sophomore outfielder Zaid Diaz.
The 5-foot-10-inch, 190-pounder is a Miramar, Fla., native that played high school baseball at Elite Squad Academy. As a freshman at powerhouse Chipola College, Diaz held a .294 batting average with a .451 slugging percentage and .412 on-base percentage. He tallied 36 RBIs, four doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 31 runs as a freshman. Defensively, he held a .951 fielding percentage with 37 putouts and two assists.
Of his commitment to Troy, Diaz said, “I’m super excited to announce my commitment to Troy University for the next two years of my college academic and baseball career. I want to thank God for making this possible as well as my family and coaches for their constant support and being my backbone.”
