Area Basketball: Pike Lib tops Samson, Goshen bests Kinston, Ariton outlasts Zion Chapel

Pike Liberal Arts School, Goshen, Ariton and Zion Chapel High Schools were all in basketball action on Monday night.

On Monday, the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots defeated Samson by a score of 39-33. Shelley Stephens, Riley Burkett and Mary Holand Stephens each scored 11 points for the Lady Patriots.

The Pike Lib Patriots boys’ team also picked up a resounding 63-32 win over Samson. Jackson Mitchell led PLAS with 21 points, while Sawyer Keck scored 12.

The Ariton Purple Cats also beat Zion Chapel by a score of 51-49 in a close game on Monday. Easton Kilpatrick led Ariton with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Addison Senn scored 12 points. Brodie Stinson paced the Rebels with 18 points, while Kavan Brown added 10.

The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels lost 48-19 to Ariton on Monday. Nya Allen led the Lady Purple Cats with 17 points, while Macileigh Bragg added nine points and eight rebounds. Shea Wambles led the Lady Rebels with 10 points.

On Monday, the Goshen Eagles defeated Kinston by a score of 61-51. JuMari Flowers led the Eagles with 27 points in the win, while Marcell Newsome chipped in with 21 points. The Goshen Lady Eagles dropped their game with Kinston by a score of 60-14.
