Area Hoops: Charles Henderson bests Barbour County

On Tuesday night the Charles Henderson Trojans throttled the Barbour County Jaguars by a score of 69-35 at home.
It was Charles Henderson’s second win over the Jags this season. Tyler Cross led the Trojans with 15 points in the win, while Cody Cross and Jydarien Burney scored 10 each. The CHHS Lady Trojans also bested the Barbour County Lady Jags by a score of 54-21. Ava Mitchell-Stone led CHHS with 21 points, matching Barbour County’s entire point total. Kamari Stroizer added 13 points for the Lady Trojans.
The Goshen Eagles earned a 56-43 win over Samson on Tuesday. Sam Adams led the Eagles with 16 points. The Lady Eagles fell 39-38 to Samson after the Lady Tigers hit a free throw in the final seconds of the game. Alyssa Sparks led Goshen with 19 points.
The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots dropped a nail-biter to Kinston on Tuesday by a score of 59-52 despite the Patriots leading 32-17 at halftime. Kinston outscored Pike 20-11 in the fourth. Pike was led by Sawyer Keck with 16 points. The Lady Patriots also fell 53-7 to Kinston.
The Pike County Bulldogs also suffered a heartbreaking 40-35 area loss to Straughn. Michael Walker led PCHS with 12 points, while Trae Davenport added 10 points.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs also fell 38-29 to Straughn on Tuesday. Tamieja Taylor and Kynthis Jackson scored seven points each for the Lady Dawgs. Jakayla Pierson added six points in the loss.
