Weekend crash claims life of Ariton woman

A single-vehicle crash on Dec. 28 claimed the life of 50-year-old woman Indea L. Dease of Ariton.

According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Dease was fatally injured when the 2007 Nissan Titan she was a passenger in left the roadway and struck a tree before becoming engulfed in flames at approximately 9 a.m. on Dec. 28. Dease was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The crash occurred on Dale County Highway 72 near Dale County Highway 99, approximately five miles east of Ariton, in Dale County.

The driver of the Nissan Titan was 45-year-old Jacob P. Dease of Ariton. He was also injured in the crash and was transported to Southeast Health in Dothan for treatment. Troopers from the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
