Zion Chapel overcomes Pike Lib in triple overtime battle

The Zion Chapel Rebels picked up an exciting 62-60 triple overtime win over the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots in the Pea River Christmas Classic in Elba on Saturday.
Zion Chapel’s Joseph LeGear knocked down a jumper with less than five seconds left to lift the Rebels over the Patriots in the third overtime. LeGear tallied 23 points for the Rebels in the win, while Brodie Stinson added 20 points.
Also on Friday, Zion Chapel fell to Brantley in the Pea River Classic by a score of 82-44. Pike Lib dropped its game with GW Long on Friday by a score of 71-50, as well. Jackson Mitchell led the Patriots with 12 points in the loss. Jeremiah Hairston scored 17 points for Long and Preston Williams added 16 points. Pike Lib defeated Elba on the first night of the tournament by a score of 66-50. Jackson Mitchell and Chase DeBoer scored 15 points for the Patriots in the win, while Sawyer Keck added 11 and Dougie Branson scored 10.
In other Saturday action, the Pike County Bulldogs earned a 51-40 win over Booker T. Washington Magnet High School. Trae Davenport led PCHS with 18 points and Khalil Foster added 13 points for the Bulldogs.
