Over the weekend, the Troy University football staff offered a football scholarship to Ozark native Tori Daffin, who entered the transfer portal from Nevada University.
Daffin grew up in Ozark and was an All-State defensive back at Carroll High School. He was also named an AHSAA North-South All-Star his senior year. Daffin signed with East Central Community College in Mississippi out of high school.
He tallied 91 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and 11 pass breakups during his ECCC career. Daffin transferred to Nevada in 2023. He tallied 56 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups in nine starts this season. He recorded two tackles against Troy on Aug. 31 and earned second-team All-Mountain West honors as a safety in 2024.
The 5-foot-9-inch, 175-pound defensive back entered the transfer portal on Dec. 27 and already holds offers from Troy, Memphis and South Alabama. Daffin will have one year of eligibility remaining. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Nevada this summer.
Daffin’s birth name is Tori Mulkey, which he played under in high school, but last Christmas he legally changed his last name to Daffin in honor of his stepfather, Eric Daffin.
Troy is busy recruiting the transfer portal after losing 12 players to the portal this offseason. While Troy was not hear nearly as hard as last offseason, starters like Ian Conerly-Goodly, Cecil Powell and Devonte Ross were among the transfers. So far Troy has landed transfer commitments from running back Jamontez Woods and junior college (JUCO) defensive end Deairich Jackson Jr. On National Signing Day, Troy head coach Gerad Parker said he anticipated signing 6-8 players from the transfer portal but that was before any Troy players had entered.
Along with Daffin, Troy has already offered scholarships to three-star JUCO receiver Isaiah Blair, North Alabama offensive tackle Mickel Clay, Indianapolis defensive back Key Crowell, Louisiana Tech center Zarian McGill, Vanderbilt safety Steven Sannieniola, Valdosta State offensive lineman Jeremiah Mawali, Old Dominion offensive lineman Michael Flores, Missouri State cornerback Kaleno Levine and Delaware State receiver Kristian Tate.
