Troy lands transfer portal receiver Tray Taylor

The Troy Trojans earned another commitment from the transfer portal on Monday when former Coastal Carolina receiver and kick returner Tray Taylor announced his commitment to the Trojans.

Taylor is a 5-foot-8-inch, 160-pound receiver from Shreveport, La., that was a high school star at Loyola College Prep. He earned All-State honors as a kick returner and All-District honors as a kick returner and receiver in high school.

Taylor started his college career at Tyler Junior College, earning All-Conference honorable mention as a true freshman in 2022. In 2023, Taylor earned JUCO All-American honors and All-Conference honors as a receiver and returner. He caught 39 passes for 850 yards and nine touchdowns. He ranked second in all of junior college with 94.4 yards per reception and was ranked as the No. 7 overall JUCO receiver by ESPN.

Taylor transferred to Coastal Carolina prior to the 2024 season and caught 18 passes for 262 yards and one touchdown along with six carries for 56 yards. He also returned 12 kickoffs for 169 yards and six punts for 81 yards.

Taylor is now the fifth player to commit to Troy from the transfer portal, joining former JUCO defensive end Deairich Jackson Jr., West Florida running back Jamontez Woods, Vanderbilt safety Steven Annieniola, Washburn cornerback Jaquez White and Georgia Tech offensive lineman Patrick Screws Jr.
