After a big performance in a pair of Sun Belt Conference wins this past week, Troy junior Zay Dyer was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week for women’s basketball.

This past weekend, Dyer averaged 18 points and 16.5 rebounds with two double-doubles in Troy’s wins over Coastal Carolina and Marshall. She scored 25 points and grabbed 21 rebounds  with a career-high four blocks in an overtime win over Coastal Carolina before tallying 11 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Marshall.

“I am thrilled that Zay earned this honor,” Troy coach Chanda Rigby said. “She is such a unique athlete in that she has the quickness of a guard with the length and skills of a post player. She works hard and contributes to our program in so many ways. She played two great games this week, and I’m proud she was recognized by the Sun Belt as the player of the week.”

Dyer leads the conference in rebounds with 10.1 rebounds per game, the only player in the conference to average double digit rebounds. She also ranks in the Top 25 in the nation in rebounds. She also leads the Sun Belt with eight double-doubles this season, which ranks 11th in Division I. Her 1.2 blocks per game and 42.1 percent shooting both rank in the Top 5 in the SBC, as well. Dyer is the second Trojan to win SBC Player of the Week this season after Shaulana Wagner took the weekly honor earlier in the 2024-2025 year.

Dyer and the Trojans will battle Appalachian State on Thursday at 11 a.m. on the road.
