Pike Lib falls to Northside Methodist in non-area contest

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots dropped a non-area basketball game on Monday to the Northside Methodist Knights by a score of 60-53.
The loss moves Pike’s season record to 8-14. The score was tied 13-13 going into the second quarter but Pike led 29-23 at halftime. The Knights, however, took a slim 45-43 lead into the fourth. NSM outscored PLAS 15-9 in the fourth quarter. Northside led by as many as eight in the fourth but Pike managed to cut the lead to 55-50 with one minute left. That was as close as the Patriots would get, however.
Jackson Mitchell led PLAS with 17 points, while Sawyer Keck added 11 points. Kyle Kirchoff led Northside with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pike Lib girls also fell 54-35 to Northside Methodist as the Lady Knights jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter and never trailed in the contest. Mary Holland Stephens led PLAS with 19 points, while Shelly Stephens added eight. Dana Cool scored 21 points for the Lady Knights.
The Pike Lib junior varsity boys team lost 23-17 to Northside Methodist. Charlie Fountain led the JV Patriots with six points.
Also, the Goshen boys dropped a non-area game with Highland Home on Monday by a score of 44-36. The Goshen girls also lost 56-19 to Highland Home.
