Jan Marie (Cosby) Dalton, 82, a longtime resident of Lewisville and Lake Kiowa TX passed away on January 2nd 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Jan was born August 10th, 1942 in Troy Alabama to James Madison Cosby & Jean Louise (Burns) Cosby. She survived both her brother Robert Jerry Green who died in 2002 and her sister Mary Jeanette Johnson who passed in 2013. She leaves behind her cousins formally from Troy Alabama Barbara Hearn Inman and her husband Jerry, Maxine Barron Goza and her husband Howard, Robbie Joe Cosby and his deceased wife Jenny, William Tracy Cosby, Yvette Cosby Hudson and her husband Bob, Diane Cosby Blackwell and her husband Tom, and Regina Cosby King.
After leaving Alabama Jan lived shortly in Kansas before settling in the Texas area in 1960. Jan’s husband, William H. (Bill) Dalton preceded her in death December 31st 2013 after 38 years of marriage. Jan and Bill were the previous owners and operators of Dalton & Son Funeral Home and Martin Oaks Crematory in Lewisville TX. Jan served hundreds of families in the community through her work with Dalton & Son and Flowers by Dalton. She enjoyed golfing and traveling the country with her husband, gambling, entertaining others with her singing and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Jan was a member of Shady Shores Baptist Church. An avid singer as a founding member of the Lake Kiowa Lakettes and was a member of Lake Kiowa Women’s Club.
Jan is survived by her eight children (three daughters and five sons). Scarlette Coulson and her husband Martin of Lewisville TX, Jeanna Witt and her husband David of Sebastian FL, Lee Ann Hammond and her husband Greg of Greenville TX, William Dalton III (Billy) of Greenville TX, Richard Dalton and his wife Sherrie of Ft. Worth TX, Cecil Dalton and his wife Nona of Highland Village TX, Wes Favors and his wife Jennifer of Cumming GA & Jon Dalton of Keller TX. Jan in also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, and their spouses and eighteen great grandchildren.
