The Troy Police Department has arrested 22-year-old Kesean Wilmore and charged him with the rape of his own infant daughter.

According to a news release from Troy PD, on the evening of Jan. 10, officers responded to a report at Troy Regional Medical Center’s emergency room and upon arrival, law enforcement personnel gathered initial information from medical staff and interviewed the infant’s parents.

A Troy PD detective was called to the scene to lead the investigation and during the course of those efforts, it was discovered that the infant’s father, Wilmore, was not in compliance with the terms of his state probation from a prior offense. Wilmore was taken into custody for a probation violation and transported to the Troy Police Dept. for further questioning.

Troy PD’s subsequent investigation resulted in additional charges against Wilmore, which includes first degree rape, sodomy in the first degree, incest and child abuse. Wilmore currently remains in custody at the Pike County Jail on no bond and is scheduled for an Aniah’s Law hearing. The purpose of Aniah’s Law is to provide judges in Alabama with more authority to deny bail to individuals charged with some of the most serious crimes, including first degree rape.

The infant victim was transferred to a specialized facility, where the child is receiving further medical treatment. Troy PD continues to investing the matter and is being assisted by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office.
