The Pike County Heart Board will hold its 27th annual Heart Walk on Feb. 24.

Shari Smith, Heart Board spokesperson, said the Heart Walk will take place at the Troy Sportsplex beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. She said there will be free food, prizes, a silent auction as well as the Heart Walk. In addition, she said several local health agencies, health-related businesses and local agencies will have information booths set up at the Heart Walk.

Smith said in the last couple of years, the Heart Board had shifted its focus and was donating more money locally. Smith said the Heart Board saw a local need for more automated external defibrillators (AED). She said the AEDs cost about $2,200 and have leads for both adults and children. She said, so far, the Heart Board had purchased eight AEDs. The most recent donation was made to Beacon of Hope and another AED will be donated to Troy Elementary School on the night of the Heart Walk.
