CHHS Trojans pick up pair of weekend victories

The Charles Henderson Trojans earned a pair of wins this weekend over Andalusia and Pike Road. 

First, the Trojans moved to 3-0 in Class 5A, Area 3 on Friday with a 44-42 win over the Andalusia Bulldogs as Jyderian Burne scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and four blocks in the win. Kameron Christian added 16 points for the Trojans. 

Next, the Trojans throttled Pike Road 72-52 on Saturday as Burney totaled 20 points in the win along with 14 from Damien Williams, 13 from Carter Ford and 12 points from Christian.

Also, the CHHS Lady Trojans lost to Andalusia 29-26. The Lady Trojans also fell 27-23 to Pike Road on Saturday. Kamari Strozier scored 11 points in the loss to Pike Road.

Also this weekend, the Pike County Bulldogs defeated New Brockton 47-31 in a Class 4A, Area 4 matchup. Tra Davenport led the Dawgs with 13 points, while Azhoree Eutsey scored 11 points. The Pike County Lady Bulldogs fell 42-40 to New Brockton when the Lady Gamecocks hit a three-pointer with less than 30 seconds left. Tameija Taylor led NBHS with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while both JoJo Thomas and Jakayla Pierson scored eight points each. 

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots beat Elba 57-50 as Sawyer Keck scored 22 points. The Lady Patriots fell to Elba 53-28. Riley Burkett scored 10 points for the PLAS girls. 

Also, the Zion Chapel Rebels lost 69-47 to Dale County. Brodie Stinson scored 17 points, while Joseph LeGear added 16 points. Also, the Lady Rebels lost 40-35 to Dale County. Shea Wambles scored 16 points for the ZCHS girls.
