Troy Athletics announces Hall of Fame Class of 2025

On Friday, Troy University announced the inductees for the 2025 class of the Troy Athletics Sports Hall of Fame.

The 2025 class, the 12th total class inducted by Troy University, features four former Troy Football legends, one basketball player, one baseball player and two track stars. There are three All-Americans, 16 All-Conference honors, three national championships, three Player of the Year honors and seven conference or district championships between these inductees.

Ted Clem

Representing Troy Football is quarterback Corey Robinson, kicker Ted Clem, linebacker, Larry Groce and linebacker Anthony Rabb. Clem is the hero of the 1984 Division II National Championship, kicking the game-winning 50-yard field that lifted the Trojans over North Dakota State.

Clem finished his Troy career as the school’s all-time leader in extra points made and second in field goals made. He made 16 field goals in Troy’s two National Championship seasons in 1984 and 1987. His 105 total points in 1987 are the third most points scored in a season in Troy history.

Clem also earned All-Gulf South Conference honors twice and ranks fourth all-time in Gulf South history with 48 career field goals and 310 points. His 310 career points also ranks first in Troy Football history.

Robinson is considered one of the best quarterbacks in Troy history and holds six school passing records, including passing yards (13,477), total offense (13,141 yards), completions (1,179), touchdowns (81), passing yards per game (280.8) and pass attempts (1,823).

Robinson was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2010 and was named All-Sun Belt three times. Robinson’s 3,726 yards in 2010 ranks second in a single season for Troy, as well.

Groce was a stalwart on Troy’s 1968 NAIA National Championship team, the first national championship won in school history. Groce started his college career as a kicker at Memphis State before transferring to Troy where he was named All-Alabama Collegiate Conference (ACC) twice as a linebacker.

Groce was named Troy University Alumnus of the Year in 1998 and was named to the Troy University School of Accounting Hall of Honor in 1993. He served as President of the Troy University National Alumni Association from 1981 through 1983. He’s already a member of the Limestone County Sports Hall o Fame.

Rabb was a two-time All-Southland Conference player and won the 1999 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Rabb was a leader of a defense that earned three of the four top scoring defenses in school history. He ranks fourth all-time in Troy history with 407 career tackles and is fourth in solo tackles and fifth in assisted tackles. His 23 tackles against Middle Tennessee in 1999 ranks as the most in a game in school history. His 33.5 tackles-for-loss also ranks eighth most in school history. His 155 tackles in 1999 ranks second most in a season in Troy history,

Ashley Beverly-Kelley represents Troy Basketball. Beverly-Kelley is Troy Women’s Basketball’s Division I all-time leading scorer and was one of the key ingredients of Troy Women’s Basketball’s resurgence under head coach Chanda Rigby.

Beverly-Kelly earned Mid-Major All-American honors in 2015 along with earning All-Sun Belt honors three times. She was also the Sun Belt Conference Tournament MVP in 2016 after scoring 17 points in the conference championship, knocking down the winning jumper for the Trojans. She scored a career-high 46 points against Georgia Southern as a junior, the most points scored by a women’s basketball player in the country that season.

Beverly-Kelley ended her Troy career with 1,973 points and as the all-time leader in school Division I history in field goals made, free throws made, steals and points. She also ranked fifth in Troy Division I history in assists. She is currently a professional basketball player overseas and has played professionally in Russia, Israel and France.

Representing Troy Baseball is pitcher Lason Fawcett. Fawcet is Troy Baseball’s single season strikeout king after striking out an eye-popping 141 batters in 1997, the same year he won the Mid-Continent Pitcher of the Year. His 34 career wins and 425 career strikeouts rank first in all-time Troy history and his 55 career starts also ranks second in school history.

Fawcett earned First-Team All-Mid Continental honors three times and held a 3.94 career ERA in 64 game appearances. His 394 2/3 innings pitched ranks second in school history. With Fawcett on the mound, Troy made two NCAA Regional appearances in 1995 and 1997.

Rick Stetson and Marcus Woody represents Troy Track and Field. Stetson was a captain in the U.S. Army and was an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War, but at Troy he helped lead Troy Track and Field to the 1972 NAIA District Championship. He holds Troy’s program record for the two-mile run and also holds records for the three-mile run and steeplechase.

Following his track career, Stetson became Troy’s first admissions counselor and eventually became the Director of Alumni affairs. He also helped coach the Troy cross country team before leading the track and field program. He also served as public address announcer and radio play-by-play for Troy football and basketball.

Woody was a two-time All-American and three-time James Batie Award for Troy’s Outstanding Track Athlete. He was one of the top 800-meter runners in the nation during his Trojan career and his time in the event still ranks as the fastest time in school history. He finished fourth at the NCAA Division II National Champions Meet and fifth in the 1992 NCAA Division II National Championship. He went on to serve as an assistant coach for Troy Track and Field from 1995 through 1998.

The 2025 Hall of Fame class will be inducted on April 26 at the Troy Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony at Trojan Arena at 7 p.m.
